How to use a Lancing Device (Fingertip Testing)
Step 1: Remove the Cap. Insert a lancet into the lancet holder until it is firmly seated. Do not twist the lancet. Gently twist the protective disk from the top of the lancet until it separates from the lancet. Replace the Cap.
Step 2: Adjust the puncture depth setting if necessary. Twist the depth adjustment knob toward the smaller bumps for a shallower puncture or toward the larger bumps for a deeper puncture. Slide the ejection/cocking control back until it clicks. If it does not click, the sampler may have been cocked when the lancet was inserted. The sampler is now ready for use.
Step 3: Get a drop of blood. Hold the sampler firmly against the side of the finger, with the cap resting on the finger. (The harder you press, the deeper the puncture.) Press the Release Button. Massage the finger gently to obtain a round drop of blood. Do not squeeze excessively on the puncture site. Do not smear the blood. Proceed with the blood test.
Step 4: After testing, remove the lancet. We suggest placing the protective disk on a hard surface and pushing the lancet tip into the disk. Eject the lancet from the sampler by pushing forward on the ejection/cocking control. Always use caution when removing the lancet and dispose of the lancet directly into a container for sharp/biohazard objects. Replace the sampler cap.
